Kavac
A touch of paradise....Kavac a small Indian village at the foot of the flat-top mountain "Auyan Tepui". Still a secret in the Gran Sabana! Just a 15 minute flight from Canaima but almost no tourists. Enjoy canyons, waterfalls and jungle.

  • Duration: 3 days,
  ITINERARY
Day 1:

Transfer to the airstrip from Santa Elena and one hour flight, in a small airplane, to Kavak. After lunch you start the first excursion to the Kavac canyon. You walk for about 30 minutes through the jungle to reach the Kavac canyon. It is impossible to describe the feeling when you swim through the canyon which is just 1,5 m wide, around 30 metres high and 100 meters long. If you get tired, just grab the safety rope in the water to rest. The canyon ends at a wonderful waterfall. On the way back you visit another waterfall in the jungle. Overnight stay and dinner in the Indian village in hammocks.

Day 2:

After breakfast you start a 15 minute walk uphill to the first table from the Auyan Tepuy. You will see beautiful canyons and waterfalls. Half the way up you rest at an natural pool. After another 15 minutes uphill walk you reach La Toma where crystal clear water and sandstone build a natural waterslide above a waterfall surrounded by rainforest.

After enjoying this place, you walk for another 10 minutes and arrive at the cara del indio. A 50 m high waterfall ends in a pool where you can swim or climb up the wall for three metres, climb behind the waterfall and jump into the waterfall. An unbelievable feeling! You have a light lunch at the top and then head back to the Indian village.

Day 3:

After breakfast is the flight out of Kavac into the devils canyon to see the Angel fall. This depends on the weather conditions, safety first! Later the flight continues to Cd. Bolivar.
