ITINERARY:
Day 1:
You leave Santa Elena to get to El Pauji by
4WD which takes 2hrs 30mins. You stop to take pictures on the way
of flat-top mountains and panoramic views. Lunch is at the
"waterfall" cathedral. This hidden waterfall in the
jungle got its name from the root-like formations on the rocks
that look like organ pipes. You arrive in El Pauji in the
afternoon and stay overnight in a camp with tropical gardens.
Day 2:
After breakfast you hike for 3 hrs to the
abyss of Pauji . After appx 40 minutes you pass so many orchids
(maxillarias) that it looks like a carpet. When you arrive at the
top, you have an amazing view over the rainforest from both
Venezuela and Brazil! Itâs the northern part of the biggest
rain forest of the world (3.5 million km2). Then you go to a small
cave, the entrance is covered with moss and ferns. This cave is
home to hundreds of bats, who represent over half of Venezuela«s
300 species of mammals! From there, you return to El Pauji for
lunch and in the afternoon you relax in the emerald waterfall, in
the woods. Then you go back to Sta. Elena, with a stop over at
Brazilian border town of "La Linea".You get back to
Santa Elena late afternoon.

GETTING
THERE AND AWAY The fastest way to
get to Santa Elena is; 1-- from Caracas to Puerto Ordaz or
Ciudad Bolivar by plane and 2-- from there with the bus to
Santa Elena.
Air There
are no direct flights from Caracas to Santa Elena. It is 500
meters distance to the west from the international airport in
Caracas to the national airport. At the moment there is one
flight leaving from Caracas to Ciudad Bolivar and there are
several flights leaving daily to Puerto Ordaz, (80km from Ciudad
Bolivar to the east).
Puerto Ordaz - Santa Elena, small
plane, Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9:00 in the morning.
Ciudad
Bolivar - Santa Elena, Charter flight, small plane CESSNA 206,
every day leaving between 7:00 and 10;00, 2,5 hour flight, (
!maximum luggage 10kg+small handbag). You can book all national
flights with us.
Bus There
are buses leaving several times a day (terminal de Oriente) to
C.Bolivar or Puerto Ordaz where you can get connections to Santa
Elena. Some bus lines offer direct buses to Santa Elena, 22 hours.
Caracas to Ciudad Bolivar or Puerto Ordaz, 8 to 12 hours
ride Ciudad Bolivar or Puerto Ordaz to Santa Elena, 9 to 12
hours ride Recommended bus lines are : Expressos Caribe,
Expressos los LLanos, Expressos San Cristobal.

Please note: If you take a bus in
Venezuela, the driver used to turn on the air condition at max and
it can get very cold in the bus down to 7ºC (45F). Take warm
clothes inside the bus.
PLEASE
NOTE: You
can book now all internal flights with the KAMADAC travel service,
as well as airport assistances and Pick-up services. We offer a
pick-up service from all airports in Venezuela (including Isla
Maragarita). Our driver will wait for your flight at the airport
with a sign bearing your name. This is for your security, so you
can be sure you are in safe hands, which is particularly important
if you arrive late at night. The driver will then transport you
and your luggage safely to your hostel/hotel. We gladly
organize your round trip from and to Caracas as your wish.
